The Welsh Automotive Forum (WAF) is excited by electrica.live’s plans for an event that will put Wales at the heart of UK electric vehicle (EV) and supporting infrastructure, services and leisure discussions.

A major focus of the event, that will be held annually and encompass all of South Wales, is for businesses involved in the future of electric transportation to engage directly with consumers as well as Local Authority leaders and Welsh Government, thereby helping devise strategy and opportunities for Wales to be a leader in the EV and electric revolution.

The Welsh Automotive Forum sits at the centre of automotive activity in Wales and the approach being taken by electrica.live reinforces the aims of WAF which includes, the development of a common approach in achieving sustainable continuous improvement for the automotive industry in Wales.

Tim Williams, Director of WAF explains the reasons for supporting electrica.live’s plans: “Whilst change to a cleaner, low carbon transport position must be approached in the right way so as to deliver evolution within the automotive community, I am very excited by the approach being taken by electrica.live and how it is facilitating opportunities to engage on what is a hugely important topic. What we at the WAF really like is the way in which these events engage directly with the general public and will help change perceptions about the benefits and increasing importance of electric transportation.

“I see WAF playing a key role in these discussions moving forward as the automotive sector here in Wales directly employs approximately 16,000 people, with other jobs added through a multiplier effect, and the industry generates approximately £3.2bn per annum. Clearly, the move towards EV is something we are keen to engage on and to showcase Wales as being able to embrace and be a part of. I therefore welcome electrica.live’s plans for Wales.”
