2016 Formula One World Champion Nico Rosberg has continued his close involvement with electric-powered automotive developments by putting his money where his mouth is and buying a Rimac C_Two – probably the most sophisticated all-electric hypercar in the world.

Purchasing one of these Croatian-built machines isn’t simply a case of making a few trips to a local dealer to haggle over finance and extras like furry dice and windscreen cover In fact, the 23-time Grand Prix winner is the first non-Rimac employee to even drive the car, and it isn’t even finished yet!

Rosberg tested the $2.8 million all-electric hypercar with company founder Mate Rimac and Rimac's in-house test driver Miroslav Zrncevic, running the car at 90 per cent of the expected 1408kW/2300Nm as they continue to develop the car and customise it to Rosberg's desired specification. When all the kinks are ironed out, the finished product will clock up a 0-60 time of under two seconds, do 0-100mph in 4.3 seconds, reach a top speed of 256mph, and have a range of 402 miles.

The ex-Mercedes and Williams driver is one of just 150 people worldwide that will own a C_Two, having ordered his car in early 2019 and working closely with the Rimac team – now numbering more than 700 – in Sveta Nedelja, Croatia, to decide on the bespoke configuration of his car, which will be delivered along with other customer cars in 2021.
