electrica.live is holding events around the UK focusing on electric vehicles and supporting infrastructure, services and e-leisure opportunities, and OLEV is reinforcing the events, offering its expertise on topics encompassing the entire EV spectrum.

The Office for Low Emission Vehicles is a team working across UK government to support the early market for ultra-low emission vehicles (ULEV). It is providing over £900 million to position the UK at the global forefront of ULEV development, manufacture and use, thereby contributing to economic growth and helping reduce greenhouse gas emissions and air pollution on UK roads.

Among the many initiatives it is involved with is the Go Ultra Low scheme, a joint government and industry campaign. This is supported not only by OLEV but by vehicle manufacturers, energy providers, and the Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders (SMMT). Its aim is to provide the necessary facts and information to the public so they can make an informed decision about switching to an EV, something electrica.live’s events will greatly reinforce and complement.

OLEV’s priorities are also to:

  • ensure the UK remains one of the premier global markets for ULEVs

  • develop new initiatives to overcome barriers to uptake of ULEVs

  • work jointly with the major ULEV manufacturers on public communications

  • refresh its plug-in vehicle infrastructure strategy

  • provide grants to reduce the up-front cost of new ULEVs

  • work with industry in the next phase of the joint industry-government UKH₂Mobility project on hydrogen for transport

  • support research and development and the ULEV supply chain

The events planned by electrica.live across the UK will support OLEV’s aims and objectives by encompassing four key components; a Roadshow & School Outreach Programme that will travel through the region where the event is centred; Conference & Seminars allowing experts in their field to educate and engage on the potential an EV future possesses and how we get there; EV Performance Trial & Tour of the region where the event is taking place to test the latest EVs in real world conditions and demonstrate to the public the range, accessibility and reliability of the product; an Exhibition & Show highlighting the latest automotive products as well as the impact that electric power will have on our life-style and education.

Commenting on the support of OLEV, Chris Bibb, electrica.live Director says: “We are delighted to have backing from a body with the kudos and track record of OLEV and its support means a great deal.

“We will be working closely with them on all our events across the UK which we hope will accelerate the electric future by analysing and discussing the barriers that need to be overcome, what changes need to be made within society to reach our goals and how we change perceptions. It is crucial the public is included and brought along with this debate, as its understanding and confidence in all things EV is crucial if the exciting future is to be achieved. Having OLEV’s support will help us achieve this.”
